This falcon is carved from an American chestnut tree that had lived in northern Baltimore County.   It is one of two that I carved and gave to the owners of the tree because they allowed us to pollinate the tree and use the progeny in the breeding program of The American Chestnut Foundation.  You can see me with both carvings in the photo at lower left.  13” tall by 7” in diameter.
